ok, it's time for a harry potter update, for those of you who care. which is me. and possibly some others. anyway:
this man is playing the excellent professor lupin. you may have seen him in seven years in tibet as brad pitt's homie, in the island of doctor moreau as edward douglas or in dragonheart as king einon. after looking at some pictures of him, and thinking back to what i remeber of him from seven years and dragonheart (not much), he seems like he should be an OK lupin. however, much as i hate to say it, where i casting this film, i probalby would have put this man, or someone like him, in the role of professor lupin. but hey, what do i know.
and this man is playing the oh-so-very-cool sirius black. although roles in films such as lost in space, dracula have likely prepared him for the role, he's still not who i might have picked. who, you ask, would i have? either this man or this one. i could see both of them doing it, and doing it well. excellent actors both.
oh, and if you care, this guy is playing dumbledore, since richard harris is, sadly, dead.
well, there you have it. enjoy.

tomorrow (see!? an "o", you little bastard!) i'm going to salem, where i'll be participating in the oregon youth legislature program. which may well be one of the most fun activities this side of pornography. we had a short pre-leg session a while ago, and i just about wet myself with joy. i was smiling all the way home. and i'm SO looking foreward to this. not only is it fun as all get out, it's also an excuse to get dressed up. and will i ever be. tomarrow, i will be sporting a black three-piece suit (mad thanks to mrs. carmen for the coat), and looking unbelievably dashing. but that's enough about me. let's talk about a movie i saw.
tonight i watched talk to her; a film from, i believe, spain. i belive this because the actors keep talking in spanish, and mention madrid a number of times. madrid is, i believe, in spain. i could, however, be mistaken. as for the film itself, i have had difficulty comming up with a word, or even a collection of words, which accurately describe this movie. a friend of a friend whom i met in the theatre told me he had read a review which claimed that "no matter what you excpected, you would still be suprised." this is, perhaps, the best way to describe talk to her. it's not really a romance, or a comming-of-age story, or a commentary or even an art film; in a way, it's all of these and none of them. and of course more things as well. although i enjoyed it, i can't say i left going "wow, that really moved me," or "gosh, i hope i can make a movie like that someday." no, out of the several movies i've seen at the delightful avalon, this was probably not my favorite. it didn't touch on the romance that secretary did, or have the whimsy of spirited away. in my mind, however, this movie stood out somewhat for it's cinematography. the colors were rich and vibrant (two color buzzwords), and many of the shots were subtly beautiful. one of my favorites involved a conversation through the glass at a jail. whether intentionally or otherwise, the reflected image of one man's face, was right over the acutal face of the other man. wicked. while i'm on faces, the lead - one darĂo grandinetti - had what i thought to be a very interesting face. a man probably in his forties, he still had a face complex enough to satisfy me for the entire film.
so, in conclusion, this may not be the best film at the avalon this year. in my opinion, certianly not. however, i cannot and will not deny that it is indeed a very good movie, and certianly better than most of the fare foisted on the unsuspecting public at ninth street. so if you're thinking about going to see the recuit, go see this instead. i can pretty much garuntee that it'll be more interesting, despite a pronounced lack of colin farell.
also, kit, many thanks. if you're wondering why i'm thanking you, check the time i wrote this, and it should give you a hint. if it doesn't, tough. some secrets are meant to be kept. he he.
